How One Person Can Start a Wave of Impact
As many of you already know, we have a dedicated group at Yamaha Guitar Group, that work towards how we can all make a positive impact through donations, volunteering, and awareness.

One of our core members, Michelle Johnson (Product Data Specialist) has been championing a special charity local to her home in the UK.

Now I will hand it over to Michelle to share the journey she has been on to support Thomas's Fund.

At the end of 2021 I had a mini mid-life crisis, and decided I was going to walk 2022km on hikes in 2022 and raise money for charity while I was doing it.

I chose Thomas’s Fund as it was a charity local to my home which helps children with life threatening or shortening conditions communicate through music. Music is incredibly important to us as a family, not only for joy and work, but we’ve seen how it helps our youngest son who has been hospitalized multiple times cope and survive with the difficulties he’s faced in his young life.

Over the course of 2022, I managed to raise £1,506. Then, my parents, decided they wanted to help continue the journey. They set up a not for profit organization delivering social dance workshops, lessons and social events; donating all profits to local charities. On top of this, a raffle is held at the monthly social events, again with all profits going to charity. The monthly events are a full team effort with my dad running the music, my mum dancing with any single attendees and me, my husband and kids on the door taking the tickets and running the raffle.

They estimate that by the end of this year, they will have been able to donate in excess of £15,000 to Thomas’s Fund since they started.
